First of all; forget all you have learned on other RPG boards. This Vampire's Opera, it will probably carry another name, it has different admins, and we got different rules.
There are a few rules one should follow if he or she decides to join. Read these, and when you still got questions IM one of the admins;
1. It is Mr. Vampire to you, not Mrs. Vampyr.
One thing which we hate here, are Vampyrs. A more mystical name some say. Here Vampires are Vampires, no Vampyrs or anything else, with no exception at all.
2. It is Mr. Werewolf for you, not Mrs. Lycan.
I don't know who thought up the name Lycan, I first saw it in Underworld, and have hated it ever since. Here the wereolves are werewolves, so call them werewolves. Again, no exception.
3. Rules and regulations are written down clearly.
So if you have another idea about Vampirism, good for you. But here count the rules we set up. No Vampire: the Masquerade, and no Anne Rice Vampires. If you don't agree, or if you got another idea, you can always IM me (Maximilian) but if I say no to the idea; live with it.
4. No I am not a bitch...
I just have a distinct view about what Vampires are in my world. Those who do not like it are obviously in the wrong place. Those who come here whining about how a Vampire should be, will be banned if they don't see that this is a board set up by different people than he or she is used too. Yes that is harsh, but I am an admin, not a negotiator.
If you rp...
1. Make your posts at least 5 sentences long.
This will encourage other people to make loner posts, and be honest; you like it better when someone is taking time in order to make a nice descriptive post for you, than a one-liner without any information to respond too.
2. be descriptive...
The more details, the easier it is for the other to rp for longer periods. Even for only short dialogs, I want to see deatil. Are there stars, what does the room look like, what kind of furniture is placed in the room, is it noisy where you are, are there people, do you like it, don't you like it, describe your character...
but!
Try to be descriptive in a telling-way.
There are two ways to do this:
"Max walked into the room. He wore a black sweater and blue jeans. He kept his hair in a ponytail, and he wore sneakers. Walking into the room he saw the person he was looking for, walked to the table and sat down with him, wanting to say something."
"Walking into the crowded café Max stopped for a moment, taking in his enviroment. All kinds of humans were gathered her, but he tried to ignore the smell of blood as they reached his nostrils. It was rather noisy in here, but he decided to ignore it. He hadn't come here to complain about the loud music and the laughter. He wore casual clothes today, a black sweater, brandnew from the store, together with stonewashed jeans and le Coq sneakers. It wasn't his usualy garment, and he looked rather uncomfortable in them. He spotted the man he wished to talk to, as his Amber eyes scanned the café. Nervously bringing a hand through his long auburn hair he sighed and decided it was time, so he stepped forward, walking towards the man he desperatly wanted to talk too."
Now tell me in all honesty, if you rp to someone, which one do you like best to read and respond too?
3. Don't go decide anything for anyone.
Rather simply, and it is described in the rules. if you decide that you want your flirtings to be taken seriously without making a fool out of yourself, contact the one you are rp'ing with, and tell about the ideas you have.
If you insult a character of someone else, be smart, and send an IM telling that you don't mean to offend him or her.
It might sound silly, but believe me, some people get stuck in RP'ing that much that they will take any insult personally...
to be continued...
